Meadowlands, MN- The Central St. Louis County Fair starts Friday, August 19. Events kick off Friday with fireworks and live music, followed by a 5K, scavenger hunt, petting zoo, and more music on Saturday. Sunday has a parade at 11:30 a.m. followed by an enhanced car show and a coin dig for the kids. The fair is hosting a new pie-eating contest at 3:30 before the prize drawing of 125 prizes. The town of 600 expects nearly 1,000 people over the three days.

Cloquet, MN- Arrowhead Regional Development Commission and MnDOT are looking into a transportation plan involving the Highway 33 corridor. The goal of this plan is to focus on pedestrian and bicycle safety along the highway and develop a plan for potential improvements throughout Cloquet. An open house is available anytime through September 13 on MnDOT’s Facebook page. Members of the public can see project goals, timelines and current conditions of the project. A survey is also available for public feedback on the project.

Hayward, WI- The 2nd annual Barn Dance is raising funds after the loss of Cassidy Metropulos to a fentanyl overdose in 2019. Her family and friends now host the event to raise awareness about drug addiction and support services that help those struggling. One hundred percent of the proceeds go to New Reflections Pathway to Hope and Greater Hayward House of Hope. The dance will be on Saturday, August 20 at the Sylvandale Barn.
