Several community celebrations to choose from this weekend on the Iron Range.

MI, MN, WI- The battle of the best-looking cruiser is on! The American Association of State Troopers is holding its 9th annual competition to find the best-looking state police vehicle. The top 13 vote-getters will be featured in the association’s 2023 wall calendar. Minnesota’s photo features two trooper helicopters alongside a plane and squad car in front of the Minneapolis skyline. For Michigan’s entry, it’s a lone squad car in front of the famous Blue Bridge. And in Wisconsin, it’s an SUV and motorcycle in front of the Milwaukee Art Museum.

Virginia, MN- The community is invited to a party this weekend! Sunday, August 21 is the Community Sweet Corn Feed at Rockwell Church. There will be free food, including hamburgers, hot dogs and corn on the cob. School backpacks with supplies will be given away and there will be fun games for all ages to enjoy. A fire truck and police K9 will also make an appearance. The fun starts at noon and runs through 4 p.m.

Side Lake, MN- They are celebrating the community this week! Thursday, August 18 will be the annual Celebrate Side Lake event. It is a free afternoon open to all, with activities like BINGO, live music, a petting zoo, bouncy houses and more! There will also be a variety of food trucks and more than 25 local businesses selling handmade products. Also on-hand will be local agencies to take and answer questions about the lake association. Celebrate Side Lake days runs from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
