Grand Rapids, MN- Sidewalk replacement work will begin, Monday August 15. The sidewalk along Highway 169 between SE 1st street and NE 2nd street will be replaced. Daytime right lane closures will be enforced and pedestrians will be directed to the opposite side of the street. The work will address ADA concerns and should last 2 to 3 weeks.
Cook, MN- Rachel Betterley is a visual arts teacher for the St. Louis County School District who will compete next week for Mrs. America! She was previously Miss Minnesota in 2015 and is the first Minnesotan to win both titles. Her social initiative is Art with Heart where she uses creative projects to uplift communities and raise money. Good luck to Mrs. Betterley! The competition for Mrs. America begins August 12 with a new winner crowned August 20.
Cable, Hayward, WI- An art-filled weekend is in store for Cable/Hayward area residents. Beginning August 12 the Cable Hayward Area Arts Council will be hosting the self-guided tour through 20 sites. The tour visits different studios and galleries from Delta to Stone Lake. 31 artists will be showing and selling their work, with a few hosting live demonstrations. Tour brochures can be found at the Cable and Hayward Chambers of Commerce.
