City by City: Superior, Cable, Hayward

A local author is making one final stop for her latest book.

Superior, WI- The Superior Public Library is hosting two award-winning poets this month. Jan Chronister and Peggy Trojan are Wisconsin natives who became friends at a workshop in Iron River 12 years ago. Now they have authored 10 poetry books and have both been awarded the Outstanding Achievement Award from the Wisconsin Library Association. They write about the North woods but also their lives through all the ups and downs. The free event will be held July 28, at 2 p.m.

Cable, WI- A local author is making one final stop for her latest book. Kristine Ochu will be at Redbery Books in Cable talking about her book “Campfire Confessions” this Saturday. All proceeds from this event will go to the Ovarian Cancer Symptom Awareness Organization. Ochu dedicated the book to three of her friends who battled cancer. The novel tells the story of three best friends from Hayward on a hilarious and soul-searching canoe trip. There will also be a representative with OCSA at the event. Whether you want to buy the book or not, all are invited to attend a community building afternoon.

Hayward, WI- The Sherman and Ruth Weiss Library is holding two events this week as part of the 2022 Summer Reading Program. Tuesday’s event will be a showing of Disney’s Encanto. Attendees are encouraged to bring a chair or blankets to sit on. And Thursday’s event will be Pirates... Arrrgh! Magic Show, is a fun family-friendly show starting at 6 p.m. on the lawn behind the library.
