Trail by Trail: Bigfork, Chisholm, Pengilly
Trail Report from Wilderness Wheelers:
“The Bigfork - Balsam Connection trail is completely open with no caution areas to report. Volunteers have been out clearing down trees and repairing washouts from the last few weeks of high winds and heavy rains. The trail is in very good to excellent condition. A large parking lot is available at the trailhead in Bigfork and can accommodate large rigs and trailers. View our website at www.wildernesswheelers.com or check us out on Facebook for more information.”- Ron Danielson, Trail Coordinator
Trail Report from Northern Traxx ATV Club:
“Chisholm ATV Trail is open and in good condition. The biggest challenge you’ll have is dusty terrain in these warm summer months. The Chisholm ATV Trail utilizes several County Roads for connectivity so please be careful on them and always travel in the same direction as road traffic unless otherwise stated.
Chisholm to Hibbing ATV Trail shares a trail through the Redhead Mountain Bike Park and has a posted speed limit of 10mph, the Park is very populated so watch out for bikers and obey the signage. While you’re there stop for a swim at the dock and beach area in the Redhead. All of our trail maps are interactive and found on Polaris Ride Command.”
Pengilly, MN- The local club is giving back to support local veterans. The Run-A-Muck ATV club is a newer club that formed in October of 2020. They aim to host two major events each year, one to raise money for future trails and the other to give back to their community. Last month they held their 2nd Annual Lucky Duck Ride and raised over $6,000 for VFW Post #5516 out of Keewatin
