SUPERIOR, WI-- A day to celebrate music-making and recognize local talent has been made official in Superior Tuesday, June 21.

Superior Jim Paine made the proclamation before playing a few notes on the french horn, which he said he hadn’t touched since 5th grade.

“Make Music Superior Day” features concerts all throughout town from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Paine says it’s all about celebrating the city’s annual PorchFest concert series which kicked off earlier this month.

“As people of all ages, musical genres and ability levels from students and amateurs, professionals and marquis artists gather throughout the day in Superior to engage in music-making,” said Mayor Paine.

PorchFest events are happening each Thursday throughout June, July and August in Superior.

Tuesday’s announcement is part of a larger celebration for Make Music Day, one that takes place in 1,000+ cities all around the world every June 21st.

It’s also Make Music Madison Day, which started back in 2013.
