Hayward, WI- A local author is giving back to her community. Kristine Ochu is the author of “No Pooping on the Dock! The Owl and the Looney, Whacky, Crazy and Naughty Ducks.” It is currently for sale in Hayward and Cable with a portion of proceeds going to the Hayward Library Foundation and Winged Freedom Raptor Hospital, a 100% donation and volunteer-based organization in Spooner. She has also written a fiction novel called “Campfire Confessions.” All profits from that book will go to the previously mentioned organizations as well as the Northwoods Humane Society and Women’s Ovarian Cancer Organization.

NE Minnesota- Motorists may see some short-term lane closures. Crews will be placing road weather information systems at 10 locations across the Arrowhead. The systems are used to collect weather data and gather information for future maintenance decisions. RWIS information is sent to the National Weather Service as well as the 511 traveler info system. The 10 new stations will be located in Aitkin, Carlton, Cook, Itasca, Lake and St. Louis counties. The project should be done by October.

Ironwood, MI- The Gogebic Range Trail Authority will host its business meeting to address the potential purchase of a shipping container and adding a second groomer barn. They will also discuss getting signs out on the trails, the 4th of July parade in Bessemer and some branding updates. The meeting starts at 6 p.m. on June 21, at Rigoni’s Inn.
