TONIGHT: High pressure over the South will keep the rest of the evening dry and quiet before active weather hits the area this holiday weekend. Temperatures will fall to the lower 50s and upper 40s with calm south winds between 3-6 mph. High pressure over the south will move to the east as the first low-pressure system moves across the upper Midwest. Through the evening hours, clouds will slowly increase as the system moves closer to the Northland. The first of several rounds of storms will begin early Saturday morning.

SATURDAY: Showers and thunderstorms will begin early Saturday morning with a possibility of a strong to severe storm. Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has issued a marginal risk for parts of the Northland over central Minnesota. Areas west of I-35 stretching north to the Bemidji area are under a marginal risk with the main threats being strong winds reaching 60+ mph and pea-size hail. By the afternoon, scattered showers are possible before the next round of storms arrive Sunday. Highs will be in the lower to mid 60s with breezy east winds between 10-20 mph. Lows will fall to the lower 50s and upper 40s with isolated showers possible.

SUNDAY: More rounds of thunderstorms will come as a strong Midwest system brings a warm and cold front Sunday night through Monday. Some of these storms have a better chance of becoming severe with quarter-size hail and strong winds possible. A brief spin-up cannot be ruled out. A slight risk for severe weather has been issued over mainly Minnesota with areas along and west of I-53 in Wisconsin. The rest of the Northland is under a marginal risk. Highs will be warm quickly to upper 60s on Sunday then the 80s by Monday from the warm front then cool down quickly once the cold front passes by the afternoon on Monday. Scattered showers and storms are possible on Memorial Day.
