DULUTH, MN-- Local high school students had the opportunity to learn more about trades and apprenticeships as they look to the future.

Students from Duluth, Carlton County, the Iron Range, the North Shore and more got hands-on experience in different building and construction trade careers during the “Construct Tomorrow” event at the DECC, which kicked off Wednesday.

They got to wire circuits, trowel cement, set tile and much more as they move through a series of stations staffed by representatives of 14 local union apprenticeship programs.

This helps students learn about earn-as-you-learn apprenticeships in high demand and living wage careers.

A community open house is being held from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, in Edmund Fitzgerald Hall/Amsoil Arena at the DECC for people interested in trade careers.
