70s today, 80s for some tomorrow
DULUTH, MN. (CBS 3 Duluth) -
Today: Skies are clearing through the day today. We start our Tuesday with mostly cloudy skies overhead, but as we head through the rest of the day, skies are clearing, and partly to mostly sunny skies prevail as we head towards this evening. Winds are out of the west between 5-10 MPH, so we no longer have a cool breeze off the lake for most lakeside communities. With that, temperatures climb into the 60s and the lower 70s. I have a forecasted high of 70 right now at Duluth International, which would make it the first 70 this year and the first one in 203 days! Mostly clear skies stick around tonight as temperatures fall back into the mid and upper 40s and the lower 50s.
Wednesday: While Duluth may see their first 70 today. Some communities across Northwest Wisconsin may see their first 80 Wednesday. We start our Wednesday with more sunshine, but clouds are on the increase throughout the day, giving way to showers and storms as we head towards late Wednesday evening into Wednesday night. Some storms could be strong to severe in nature. Temperatures climb into the 50s and 60s by the lake, 70s and 80s further inland—the best shot at seeing 80 is in Northwest Wisconsin, away from the lake.
Thursday: Some showers and storms may linger through Wednesday night into the first part of our day Thursday. Otherwise, We are looking at clearing skies once again as we head through the day. It will be a warm one away from Lake Superior, where some in the southern inland portion of our region may climb into the mid and upper 80s. By the lake, we are still in the 60s thanks to a wind now out of the east off the lake between 5-10 MPH.
Coming Up: We are tracking some more mild air ahead of us to close out the week. How warm? Meteorologist Peter Kvietkauskas will have the details on CBS 3 This Morning. Join us!
