Tracking storms today, very warm temperatures for mid-week
DULUTH, MN. (CBS 3 Duluth) -
Today: As we head through the morning hours of our Monday, we see showers and storms fill in from west to east. Some storms could be strong to serve in nature. It looks like the best shot as strong to severe storms come through the later morning hours through the early afternoon, say anywhere between 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM. The main threats with any storms we do see are strong winds and small hail. As we head through the rest of the afternoon, the storm threat looks to subside for a bit with mainly some rain showers, but we could see another line of storms as we head towards this evening. Temperatures climb into the 60s and 70s across the Northland. Tonight, showers and storms move out, and skies clear as temperatures fall back into the upper 40s and lower 50s for most.
Tuesday: Sunshine returns to the forecast for Tuesday. With partly to mostly sunny skies overhead, temperatures climb into the 60s and lower 70s. I have a forecasted high of 70 at Duluth International. If we do make it to 70, it would be the first 70 of the year. Winds are out of the SW between 5-10 MPH, meaning we are not as cool by the lake as we have been.
Wednesday: Some communities Wednesday could see their first 80-degree day. With partly cloudy skies overhead, temperatures climb into the 50s and 60s by the lake further inland though we are talking about 70s and 80s. The best shot at the 80s comes across northwest Wisconsin, away from Lake Superior. There is the possibility of a stay shower or storm as we head towards Wednesday evening and Wednesday night.
Coming Up: We are tracking more showers and storms and more warmth to close out the week. Meteorologist Peter Kvietkauskas will have the forecast on CBS 3 This Morning. Join us!
