City by City: Hayward, Iron Range, Minnesota
Hayward, WI- The world-famous Lumberjack World Championships are still a few months away but planning has begun. This year’s competition will run from July 28 through the 30. Volunteers are needed in a wide variety of roles, from setting up and cleaning up to ticket sales to judging and more. All volunteers also get official lumberjack gear. The party starts early this year with a comedy show Wednesday night kicking off the fun-filled weekend.
Iron Range- The Wall That Heals is a traveling replica of the Vietnam War Memorial. It will come to Chisholm June 23-26 and must be staffed 24 hours a day. To help with staffing the United Way of Northeastern Minnesota is looking for more than 100 volunteers for the four-day event. Volunteers for the display will be needed at the resource tent, mobile education center, concerts, honor ceremony and more.
Minnesota- A fun weekend ahead for moms! This weekend is “Take a Mom Fishing Weekend”. Mothers across the state can hit the lakes this weekend, no license required. Most years Mothers Day and Minnesota’s fishing opener fall on the same weekend but not this year, meaning that walleye and northern season will not be open.
