Cloquet woman to bring 10 checked bags of medical supplies to Ukraine
DULUTH, MN. (CBS 3 Duluth) - - A Ukrainian woman, who now lives in Cloquet, is putting her life at risk to save others.
She’s traveling back to her war-torn home country with 10 bags of much-needed medical supplies in the coming weeks.
Galyna Tuttle is a courageous and humble woman.
“The people who are giving, they are heroes,” Tuttle said. “They are saving lives. It’s not even me. I’m just the messenger.”
Tuttle felt a call to make the trip after talking with her niece, who is a doctor in Ukraine, and said there is a desperate need for donations there.
“People when they heard there’s the possibility of medicine coming, were like ‘Have they left yet? Have they left yet? When are they coming?’” Tuttle said.
Galyna asked her community to help with what they could, and they delivered.
She’s received so many donations, they’ve now decided her nephew, John Tuttle III, will join her on the trip to help carry all the supplies.
Friends and family say they’re proud of the heroic efforts Galyna and John are making for the Ukrainian people and have faith that they’re doing the right thing.
“I believe that God will protect her because God is sending her and when God sends us somewhere, he promises he will take care of us,” said friend Rebecca Ahlstrand.
Having that support from her community is keeping Galyna strong.
“I am excited,” Tuttle said. “And I would not be able to do that without the support of friends and the community.”
Although they no longer need donations for medical supplies, you can still support Galyna and John financially here (will link) so they are able to check all of the bags and buy food and other supplies for Ukrainian people while they’re overseas
