Strong winds knock out power across Duluth and Hermantown

DULUTH, MN. (KBJR) - More than a thousand Minnesota Power customers were in the dark Tuesday night, as strong winds blew trees and branches onto powerlines.

According to Minnesota Power, about 1,200 homes were without electricity as of 10:15 p.m.

Most of them were in the Hermantown area, with smaller, more scattered outages in neighborhoods across Duluth.

Crews were out working on restoration.

KBJR6 Chief Meteorologist Adam Lorch said the big storm moving through the area had winds gusting to 45 miles per hour at times.
