Messy system arrives today with rain and some storms possible
DULUTH, MN. (CBS 3 Duluth) -
Today: We start off our Tuesday dry, but as we head into the afternoon hours, rain begins to fill in across the region as we head through the early afternoon hours. Most places will be able to support all rain with temperatures in the upper 30 and low to mid to 40s across the Northland. As we head through the evening hours and into tonight, there is a slight possibility of a strong to a severe storm with the most significant threats being hail and strong winds, but most should be looking at plain old rain with gusty winds at times. Winds are out of the east between 15-25 MPH. Some across far northern MN could mix with snow through the overnight hours tonight, but most will stay plain old rain.
Wednesday: Wednesday features predominantly rain once again, with showers in place across much of the Northland through the evening hours. Afternoon high temperatures climb into the upper 30s and lower 40s. As we head towards Wednesday evening, most will begin to see the transition from rain to snow. All said and done, some places could be looking at over 1″ of rainfall!
Thursday: Most, if not all, have turned over to snow for our Thursday with temperatures in the 30s for the day. The best shot at accumulating snow is in the far northwest portion of the region, where they could pick up a few inches. The further south you go, snow totals quickly drop off.
Coming Up: After this system exits, cooler weather is sticking around. Meteorologist Peter Kvietkauskas will have your extended forecast on CBS 3 This Morning. Join us!
