DULUTH, MN. (CBS3 Duluth) - The UMD softball team had a quick turnaround at home on Saturday afternoon after their home-opening sweep on Friday.

It was the Bulldogs and the Beavers for another NSIC match-up, but game one of the day took 11 innings to secure a winner.

While Minot State would tack on four runs, including a home run at the top of the 11th. In the bottom of the 11th, bases were loaded, but the Bulldogs could not answer back. Minot State took game one, 9-6.

However, the day was not over, as redemption was right around the corner for the maroon and gold. They took game one’s loss as motivation into the second to win, 7-2.

UMD is now 3-3 in conference play and will hit the road for a mid-week series with Northern State on Wednesday.
