DULUTH, MN. (CBS 3 Duluth) - The Duluth-based Catalyst Story Institute has announced a new collaboration with the well-known film school, Second City.

Since 2006, the non-profit has worked with writers, producers, and performers to grow their careers in the television industry.

Founded in Chicago, Second City has been an influential training ground for up-and-coming improv and comedy stars.

Catalyst is partnering with Second City to bolster training and programs.

The organization has stages, touring companies, and training centers across the country that have housed notable comedians like Steve Carell, Stephen Colbert, Tina Fey, Bill Murray, and more.

In an interview on CBS 3 This Morning, Anna Tanski, head of festivals and events at Catalyst, said this partnership is a great way to get Duluth’s production efforts on the map.

“This is really a way to develop talent and keep our talent here in the Northland, but to bring the creative world and the arts and culture and entertainment sector to Duluth and in a really meaningful way and a way that is really intended to elevate their opportunities and try to put Duluth on the map as the hub for an independent television production,” said Tanski.

The Catalyst Story Institute Festival opens to the general public in the fall.
