DULUTH, MN - A new art exhibit in Duluth highlights Asian-American culture and stories in our community.

The Twin Ports APIDA Collective worked with the Duluth Art Institute to create the exhibit, called “Like Me, Like You.”

It is now on display in the Steffl Gallery at the Duluth Depot.

The free exhibit features photography, paintings, and more about Asian American Pacific Islander Desi Americans in the Twin Ports.

One of the eleven contributing artists, Julia Cheng, says at first she thought the exhibit would show a sense of displacement, but it instead shows a sense of solidarity for a population that is often under-represented in our area.

“As we installed the individual pieces that we had collected, I think a deeper truth and a greater joy emerged that this is about our community creating a place for itself here in Duluth,” Cheng said.

The virtual opening ceremony begins Wednesday, January 26 at 5:30 p.m. featuring a talk with some of the artists.
