Snowy today, brutal cold afterwards

DULUTH, MN. (CBS 3 Duluth) -

Tuesday: For most, Tuesday entails moderate snow starting in the morning hours and continuing through the first part of the evening. Snow could be moderate to heavy at times, especially to the north of the Twin Ports through the day today. Most central and southern towns will get 1-3″. The Iron Range north towards the International Border will run anywhere from 3-6″. Thanks to a bit of lake enhancement, the North Shore and the South Shore could see 6-8+” of new snow. Temperatures are mild, climbing into the upper 20s and lower 30s for most.

Tuesday night: Snow clears through the evening hours, leaving us with partly cloudy skies overhead. Temperatures are dropping like a rock, falling back from our daytime highs close to 30 degrees into the single digits above and below zero. Lake effect snow continues along the South Shore, extending into the Upper Peninsula.

Wednesday: The snow is gone, and the sun comes out for most Northland communities, but we are much cooler! With mostly sunny skies overhead, temperatures struggle to make it above the 0-degree mark, with most making it into the single digits on either side of zero.
