City by City: Rainy River, Duluth, Hibbing
Rainy River Watershed, MN- There is just one day left for the public to submit comments on a mineral withdrawal proposal. In September 2021 the US Forest Service applied to withdraw 225,000 acres of land from new mineral leasing for the next 20 years. The final public listening session of the proposal is Tuesday and the public comment period will close Wednesday, January 19. To submit a comment, click here.
Duluth, MN- Public comment is open for Minnesota Power’s Duluth Reliability Loop Project, which would bring miles of new transmission lines to the area. It would also upgrade substations and address line overload concerns up the shore. The two public meetings will be on January 26 and 27. Public comment is open through February 4. Hibbing, MN- The Red Cross will host two blood drives on the Iron Range this week. One will be at the Hibbing Memorial Center Friday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The other will be in Chisholm, Thursday at Delta Airlines from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sign up to donate here.
