WEATHER STORY:

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY will be in effect Tuesday as a western low rolls over our region. The advisory will cover much of northern Minnesota and most of the U.P. The snow will be heaviest on the North Shore so a WINTER STORM WARNING will be in effect there through Tuesday as well. Snow totals will be 3-6″ in the advisory area, 4-8+ inches in the warning area and maybe 1-3″ for the rest of us. By Wednesday, an arctic outbreak will take over and we will clear up and cool down for several days.

MONDAY NIGHT:

The approaching low will start us off with a 40% flurry chance on Monday night. Low temperatures will run 1-7 for inland Minnesota. Lakeside MN will be 11-19. Wisconsin and the U.P. will have lows 12-17. The wind will be NW 5-10 mph.

TUESDAY:

The snow chance will pick up to 80% around morning drive time and snow intensity will pick up, too. Most central and southern towns will get 1-3″. The Iron Range and Snowbelt may get 3-6″. The tip of the Arrowhead may go towards 8″. Afternoon high temps will be warmer than normal from 25-30. The wind will be SE 5-15 mph.

WEDNESDAY:

The sky will clear towards partly sunny as the low leaves and an arctic high takes over. Wednesday morning wake up temps will be around 5 below zero. The afternoon high might hit 5 above for lucky towns. The wind will be NW 10-20 mph.

COMING UP:

Thursday will be sunny with a low of -20 and a high of 0. Friday will be sunny and cool, too. Flurries could come on Saturday and that will perk temps up to +15. Sunday will be cold again, though. Monday will stay chilly with a low of -7 and a high of 10 along with a 30% shot at snow showers.
