Quiet and mild Monday ushers in snowy Tuesday

DULUTH, MN. (CBS 3 Duluth) -

Monday: Most woke up Monday morning with temperatures in the upper teens and low to mid-20s. Our mild weather will last through the rest of our Monday as temperatures make it into the upper 20s as well as some lower 30s. Mostly cloudy skies prevail throughout the day, with winds out of the west between 5-10 MPH.

Monday night: For the vast majority of the night, we are looking at mostly cloudy skies overhead, but as we approach dawn Tuesday morning, we begin to see snow showers fill in from northwest to southeast. That is why a winter storm watch is in effect for Lake and Cook Counites. Temperatures tonight fall back into the teens for most.

Tuesday: By the morning commute rolls around, we are looking at snow widespread across the region. The snow will continue for the vast majority of the day. As we approach dinner time Tuesday, that is when we see snow showers begin to wrap up. All said and done, higher amounts from the Iron Range points north where they could see 3-6″. The Twin Ports is looking at 1-3″. Lesser amounts from the Twin Ports South. Lake effect along the North Shore and South Shore could lead to pockets of 6-8+” of new snow. Otherwise, temperatures climb into the mid and upper 20s.
