DULUTH, MN. (CBS 3 Duluth) - TONIGHT: After some scattered snow showers throughout the day, tonight will be dry with overcast skies continuing as the clipper systems weakens to the east. With the overcast skies staying, temperatures will not be chilly this evening. Lows will be in the lower teens with a few towns along the border falling to the upper single digits. Winds will be from the northwest between 5-10 mph. Overall, tonight looks to be a seasonal January evening, but another snowstorm is building in western Canada.

MONDAY: Overcast clouds will stay into the new week before the next snowstorm arrives from the northwest. Temperatures will continue to be mild thanks to a weak high pressure and overcast clouds trapping the heat at the surface. Temperatures will reach the mid to lower 20s again for the Northland with warmer temperatures down into the Twin Cities. Lows will fall to the mid-teens. Winds will continue to be from the northwest between 5-10 mph. High pressure will move off as the next snowstorm moves in late Monday night into mainly Tuesday morning.

TUESDAY: Due to the tracking of the system, it looks like the heaviest snow from the system will stay in Canada, but some areas, specifically the Arrowhead region, will see several inches of snow. Currently, the snowfall forecast for the Arrowhead region looks to be between three to six inches of snow, but there’s still a chance for the amounts to increase by Monday. The Duluth area could receive between one to three inches of snow. Brainerd area looks to receive very little snowfall. Northern Wisconsin could see 1-3 inches of snow as well with lake-effect snow continuing along the south shore through Wednesday. Temperatures will at least be mild in the mid to upper 20s before dropping rapidly Tuesday night. Lows Tuesday night will be around zero degrees. Arctic temperatures will continue for the rest of the week.
