Wisconsin- The DNR is reminding ice anglers to be mindful of aquatic invasive species this winter. While many species die off in the winter, anglers can still pull or stir up the plants with their augers. Officials are reminding anglers to not only clean the mud off of boots and clothes but also check equipment like augers, sleds and pullable houses. Washburn County, WI- The county-wide snowmobile trail system officially opens Friday, December 31! Some counties have already opened while others are still working on grooming efforts. Washburn officials warn that some swamp areas are not solid enough yet for grooming equipment and ask riders to be careful in these areas. For more up-to-date trail conditions, click here.

Itasca County, MN- The Itasca County Public Health Department is reminding people to uncover furnace intake and exhaust pipes after all the recent snowfall. Additionally, as temps fall, furnace use may be increasing. Blockages in these pipes can cause furnace failure or carbon monoxide build-up in a home. They are also reminding residents to check those CO detectors.
