Grand Marais, MN- A local nonprofit is ready to give back. Empty Bowls is a program that usually hosts a soup dinner and handmade bowls fundraiser each year. They then turn around and distribute the money to other groups in Cook County that help fight food insecurity in the area. That could be other non-profits or schools. This year’s fundraiser took place virtually earlier this in December and applications for the funds are open through January 15. For more information, click here.

Duluth, MN- The Duluth Public Arts Commission is looking for applicants for an upcoming light projection art installation in the Lincoln Park Business District. It is an open Request for Proposals and those chosen will be paid. The art with align with the “Love’n Lincoln Park” event later this year. Artists can submit two applications for the project. Applications are due January 10. For more information, click here.

Superior, WI- The garbage and recycling schedule for this week (12/27-12/31) is facing some changes. Due to yesterday’s weather conditions, Hartel’s did not do recycling pick up and will be one day late this week. They ask residents to have their cans out one day later than usual, with Friday’s route coming on Saturday before getting back on track for next week. As for garbage pick up Superior Public Works will be closed Friday for the New Year holiday and they ask for your can to be out a day early.
