Spooner Middle School allowed to reopen after tests and investigation
SPOONER, WI. (KBJR) - Exactly one month after dozens of students and staff were sickened by an odor inside Spooner Middle School, the fire department has cleared the building for use once again.
Ever since the incident that caused many students to go to the hospital, the Spooner Fire Department says it has conducted various tests for chemicals and high levels of carbon monoxide.
In a release Wednesday evening, Spooner Fire announced air sampling results have been coming back clean for a time now.
The school superintendent asked a third party company to review results as well.
During a meeting Monday night, results from that company came back clean, and the Fire Department cleared the building for occupancy.
The department also installed a CO detector in the school, which will remain in place through at least the end of this school year.
It was not immediately clear when students and staff will return to the building.
They have been distance learning since the incident.
It remains unclear what exactly sickened everyone.
