Twin Ports- The Head of the Lakes United Way is hosting its Holiday Day of Caring Wednesday, December 8. They will be hosting volunteers for a dozen different opportunities to help non-profits in the area. Events range from tying fleece blankets for Essentia patients to hosting toy and clothing drives ahead of the holiday season. They hope this day of care spreads holiday cheer while showcasing the importance of volunteer work. For more information, click here.

Duluth, MN- The Minnesota Department of Transportation and the Department of Natural Resources are coming together to host a public meeting Tuesday, December 7. First is the 2022 Perch Lake restoration project planned by the DNR. The lake was once a bay of the St. Louis River Estuary and now they are only connected by a four-foot-wide culvert. Part two of the meeting will be MnDOT’s plans to repave two miles of Hwy. 23 from Hwy. 39 in Gary New Duluth to 5th Street near Mission Creek. The meeting is being held virtually. Ashland, WI- The Ashland School District is inviting families to coffee. Wednesday, December 8 is the second of three opportunities for the school community to come and have coffee with Interim Superintendent Chris Patritto. The meeting will be held at The Black Cat Coffeehouse at 8 a.m. No preregistration is required, just stop by for a chance to meet and speak with the current leader of the School District of Ashland.
