City by City: Superior, Ashland, Hibbing

Superior, WI- The Superior Public Library is offering those with reading goals this holiday season to pick up books on a budget. The annual Merry Little Christmas Book Sale will be held Dec. 3-4. Over the course of the year, the Friends of the Library hand pick the best books of the year’s donations with selections from every genre and offer them at a bargain price. Organizers say this year’s selections for the holiday sale have an especially wide variety.

Ashland, WI- Chequamegon Bay is putting on a Christmas parade of their own. This year marks the 58th year of the Garland City of the North Parade through Downtown Ashland. The event is put on by the Ashland Chamber. The event had to be cancelled last year due to the pandemic, but this historic holiday tradition will be back in full swing this year. The Garland City of the North parade will take place on Saturday, Dec. 4, at 4:30 p.m.

Hibbing, MN- The 21st annual Funspiel will offer folks in the Northland the opportunity to scratch their competitive itch. The event is hosted every year by the Hibbing Chamber of Commerce and will take place Friday evening at the Hibbing Curling Club. The Funspiel will include a massive raffle that will shell out $7,000 in total prizes, but the main attraction will be the curling competition.
