Giving thanks to frontline workers with a warm meal and a smile
DULUTH, MN. (CBS 3 Duluth) - Essentia Health gave frontline workers Thanksgiving meals as a gesture of thanks for all their hard work.
CEO of Essentia Health, David Herman, and other Essentia leaders spent the day serving the meals. It’s an effort they call a necessary ‘thank you’.
“Here in the midwest, food is love,” Herman said. “And so to be able to have this meal, and to be able to take some time with each other, share the experience, and share the day is important for all of us”.
A full meal complete with turkey, mashed potatoes, pie, dinner rolls, and more greeted healthcare workers.
It was a gesture pharmacy for which technician Sydney Bertrand was grateful.
“I think it’s incredibly important to feel like you’re needed in your position and you’re wanted to be here versus just being another employee,” Bertrand said.
After a rough couple of years, health care workers took each plate with a thankful heart.
“This last almost two years now has been about a virus but it’s really about the people, and this is about getting us together as people, as individuals, sharing the experience and sharing good times, and sharing food,” Herman said.
Herman said it’s an annual event and they will continue to make sure each worker feels like they belong.
