DULUTH, MN -- Visit Duluth’s president and CEO announced Friday that she plans to leave her position at the end of the year.

Anna Tanski has worked with the marketing and tourism-based organization for 16 years.

Her contract expires on December 31.

“As Duluth’s hospitality industry emerges from the challenges brought on by the pandemic, I feel it’s the right time to step aside and pave the way for a new leader at Visit Duluth,” said Tanski. “Tourism is beginning to recover in Duluth and as this organization embarks on a newly defined mission, it makes sense to onboard a leader with a vision to fulfill these objectives and carry the industry forward.”

The City of Duluth recently signed a contract with a Twin Cities-based marketing firm to carry out much of the same duties Visit Duluth used to do as the City of Duluth’s marketing partner.

Now, Visit Duluth will carry out different, but lesser duties for the City.

The Visit Duluth Board of Directors is crafting a new leadership position based on the scope of work awarded to the organization by the City of Duluth.

They plan to post that job soon.
