City by City: Grand Marais, Grand Rapids, Duluth
Grand Marais, MN- The North House Folk School is hosting a celebration of Northland culture. The Winterers’ Gathering event will serve as an educational guide for the landscapes, history and winter travel stories related to Northeast Minnesota. Included in the event is the Arctic Film Festival. The films shown will be taken from all around the world and will focus on a visual representation of life in the north. Tickets to each screening will be available on the North House Folk School’s website. Both events will run from Thursday through Sunday.
Grand Rapids, MN- The Wilcox Theater will come alive on Thursday evening. We are the Willows, a world-renowned music group, is in town and ready to put on a show. The band is an Orchestral Indie Rock ensemble who have been praised by NPR, the BBC and USA Today. They have been in town the whole week performing, leading music workshops, and getting to know the city and community of Grand Rapids. For tickets to Thursday’s performance, click here. (link)
Duluth, MN- A wholesome holiday tradition is returning to downtown. The 10th annual Pepperkakebyen Gingerbread Village is here, and things are going to be different this year. The wonderful gingerbread creations can be appreciated online or through the window of the Nordic Center. Due to health concerns, the Nordic Center’s doors will stay closed, but thanks to the participation of several downtown organizations and businesses, the gingerbread city has never been bigger.
