The UMD men’s hockey team put the pedal to the metal last night in their win over Colorado College, with a 4-goal explosion in the second period, combined with Ryan Fanti’s second straight shutout. They took game one of the series dominantly, but game two was a different game.

It stayed scoreless through the third period and overtime, so eventually, this game ended in a shootout.

First up was captain Noah Cates and finally, a puck hits the back of a net.

Fittingly, Ryan Fanti shuts the door for his third straight shutout. The first time a UMD goaltender has done that since hunter Shepard in 2018.

It’s officially a tie, but UMD takes an extra point for a 5-point weekend.

Next up, the Bulldogs head to the ralph for a date with north Dakota.
