Brendan Pillsbury, the veteran and non-traditional student coordinator at UWS, said these letters let veterans know they’re supported going into the holidays.

“This is a way to let them know there are people out here, in the Twin Ports that support you, and we feel so strongly about thanking our veterans that we want your holiday to be successful as possible,” said Pillsbury.

UWS is holding several events this week to celebrate our nation’s heroes ahead of Veterans Day including:

Free Fitness Week for Veterans at Marcovich Wellness Center November 8-12.

Holiday Mail for Heroes November 8-12, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Veterans Day Ceremony November 12, 11 a.m.

Ask a Veteran Q-and-A Forum Friday 12:30-1:30 p.m.
