Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker has ordered all flags to fly at half-staff through Saturday in honor of Captain Cory Barr.

Captain Barr served on the Sun Prairie Volunteer Fire Department, and was killed Tuesday when a gas leak caused an explosion.

The Associated Press reports Barr was off duty at the time of the gas leak in downtown Sun Prairie on Tuesday, but went to the scene to help evacuate residents and business patrons from the area.

Walker's office says Barr's memory and legacy of selflessness will live on through his wife, daughters, and the members of the fire crew.

A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday.
