U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin has introduced the Made in America Shipbuilding Act, which she says strengthens Buy American requirements for the federal government's purchase of ships.

The act would expand the current law to cover all federal agencies, as well as all classes of ships and shipboard components.

In addition, the act would require any ship being bought with U.S. taxpayer dollars be made in America, and with American made materials such as steel, iron, and aluminum.

Earlier this year, Senator Baldwin unveiled the Made in America Shipbuilding Act in Superior.
