The 25th Annual Empty Bowl event is Tuesday, but Monday night at The Depot, there was a chance for people to get a head start on fundraising.

All proceeds from the sale of the bowls will go to the Second Harvest Northern Lakes Food Bank. Organizers say it's the region's only food bank and helps 44,000 people in need.

"Empty Bowl is a symbol of hunger, so this event really raises that awareness that there are people that are hungry in this region. And by filling their bowls, essentially by buying a bowl or having soup, they're filling the bowls of Northland residents in need," Executive Director, Northern Lakes Food Bank, Shae Morris, said.

Over the last year, the food bank says it has distributed over 5.8 million pounds of food.
