Settlement funds from a lawsuit involving a German ship held up in Duluth's Harbor last year are now being put to use.

The Cornelia, owned by MST, pleaded guilty to conspiring to cover up the illegal dumping of oily waste into the Great Lakes.

The company was fined $1 million, and $200,000 dollars went to the the Minnesota Environmental Fund.

Now, the organization is distributing $176,000 to four of its partner organizations to protect the Lake Superior watershed.

The organization encourages workplaces and individuals to conserve and restore Minnesota's natural resources.
